Somedays ago we went to a marathi play called “Marathi bana”.It has 125 people including the theater group, make up artist , musicians and the main artist. It showcases the hindu culture. It has dances and songs showing all the festivals and rituals of Hindus. It also shows the various caste and their culture with their wedding ways their dances etc. It was truly amazing show. The participants had some colorfull dresses mainly the the nav vari saree ie the nine yards saree which are dressed according to the different cultures.for eg the ways of dressing up the kolis are different than compared to the maharastrian ladies.
They also showed main festivals like diwali, dassera. I specifically liked the way they projected diwali as festival of light. Many boys an dgirls danced on the tunes of a famou marathi song with lights (diyas) in their hand. Then suddenly the lights went off and only diyas were seen in dark.Beautifull and amazing patterns were made with lights in hand. It was mesmerizing scene.
What hurt more was my the end of the program, which lasted for almost 3 hrs, soon after the play finished everybody jumped to their feet and started exiting. Would it matter to you how bad the artist would have felt who have entaritained you for more than 3 hrs with their songs , dances and performanes. Would you atleast care to give a standing ovation for just 2 mins for such a good program. Its just a appreciation that a artist should get because he has made an effort to make you smile to enjoy your time to give somthing meaningfull. Its a token thatwhatever efforts he has put in to get the desired effect on the massess is paid off and hes recognized for this hardwork.

What i liked better than was a small animal show which i saw when i was in Thailands Dream world safari. It was showing organuttans show where monkeys ccome dance, sing play boxing etc and entairtain people for 1520 mins. The concept was simple but at the end of show people stood and gave a halfminute ovation for the trainers. Imagine the effort and sweat the trainers would have put in to teach these animals to entairtain you for just 15-20 mins. Dont they deserve it…….

Gurupurnima जुलै 30, 2007

Yday we had gurupurnima festival celebrated all over maharashtra. It a specific day in which we pay respect to out Teachers.
The day of full moon, Purnima, in the month of Ashadh is traditionally celebrated as Guru Purnima by Hindus. Also known as Vyas Purnima, the day is celebrated in remembrance and veneration to sage Ved Vyas. He is the Adi (original) Guru of the Hindu Dharma, who classified the Vedas, wrote the eighteen Puranas and the Mahabharat. On this day, the Guru is offered Pujan (worship)by the disciples.
The Sanskrit root “Gu” means darkness or ignorance. “Ru” denotes the remover of that darkness. Therefore one who removes darkness of our ignorance is a Guru. Only he who removes our ultimate darkness, known as Maya, and who inspires and guides us on to the path of God-realization is the true Guru. Students also refer to their school teacher or college lecturer as guru. The connotation of the word guru in this case is one who imparts temporal knowledge (Apara Vidya) and is thus accordingly offered respect.

A spiritual aspirant, no matter how brilliant, can never attain such knowledge by his own endeavor. This is stipulated in the Shrimad Bhagwatam in which Jadbharat reveals to king Rahugan:
“O Rahugan! One cannot attain knowledge of Atma and Paramatma by performing penance, sacrifices, renunciation, Vedic study or worshipping deities of water, fire or the sun. But when the dust from the feet of a satpurush (God-realized Guru) sprinkles on our heads, then we can surely attain this knowledge.”

In essence, one can only attain salvation by serving the satpurush. Treading the path to God-realization by one’s own efforts is likened by the Katha Upanishad as walking on a razor’s edge. Adi Shankaracharya echoes a similar injunction: “If a person, despite possessing: a handsome, disease-free body, fame, a mountain of wealth, and even if he has studied the Vedas and all other scriptures, and has himself composed many scriptures, but has not surrendered himself at the feet of a Guru, then he has achieved nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing.”

The Guru plays a vital role in boosting the aspirant frequently, when he loses track, becomes despondent or simply runs out of steam. The aspirant is thus better able to obey the Guru if he understands the Guru’s glory.

Such is the mahima of Guru … In Hindu Mythology, Guru is regarded as God…

Readymade garments are one of Mumbai’s chief exports – and the surplus lands up at Fashion Street, a huddle of little shops on Mahatma Gandhi Road. They cost only a fraction of the price in foreign stores however, and are grabbed by fashion conscious collegians fresh off the rack. Haggling, of course is half the fun of buying. Begin at half the quoted price and work your way gradually upwards, then follow though with a thorough appraisal of the goods: much of the stuff here is rejected by quality conscious importers and likely to have a missing button or crooked collar. But by and large the clothes are of good quality, trendy, and probably the cheapest anywhere in the world.

Break!!! जुलै 17, 2007

Once the boss s out of office means a prolonged lunch time break for all the office staff.Usually in my offie which is a technical support centre, the lunch break is not defined. The working shift is from morning 9.00 to 5.00 pm in evening with no coffee breaks or lunch breaks. The technical specialist has to take his or her own lunch breaks and coffee breaks managing the work alloted to him/her.But most of staff have unwritten rulebook which says that the lunch time is between 1.00-1.30 in afternoon. Most of the colleagues join in for lunch in pantry after 1.15 so the lunch time is a hurried bussiness in usual working days.
However when there is boss day out, the lunch time extended for more than hour making it a fun session.
Once eevryone gathered tiffins were openand curiosity of wwhat packed in lunch box beguns, the tiffis reheated in microwave and smell of yummy vegetables lingers on.. Rotis, sabji are exchanged.Few keep an handy bbottle of aachar which is served to everyone.
Over the lunch session there is lots of gossip exchanged regarding the upcoming projects, what happened in the admin dept, whos the trouble maker in admin, whats happening in accounts and whats up with the marketting and sales dept. The most discussed fact was sudden transfer of one of the prestigious employee from mumbai office to delhi office……slowly and steadilyy the discusion changed from professional to personal stuff. Things life is such a dearies and travelling in train is oohhh.. soo difficult these days. Many of the staff members come from different parts of mumbai and travelling through all harbour, central and western railways.
Then came th discussion of travelling each of the travelling experiences of railways route who fought with whom and how the second class crowd boarded the first class comapartment and how we taught the lesson.. one thing we all agreed upon was being a first class pass holder we have a right to shout at people , throw out the second class public, fight in english and if we dont get a seat in train we have a right to make other peoples life and journey a hell.afterall we are paying 5 times more than the common man….
Weelkend plan discussed ad immense discussion on monsoon party began.. with absence of rains in the citty .. not everyone was willing to go on picnic… Plans of visiting the mahshej ghat, or some resort in arnala or some fort or lonvala were in full spun.. each betting thats the best spot to venturre out for monsoon picnic…..Finally nothing is finalised as each one wants to go to his/her own favorite spot…
Latest trends in market, upcoming sale for clothing , books electronics are mostly discussed in lunch time they say…to some extent they are true..
The lunch time proceeds for hour or so.. finally some one gets up and washes his tiffin … its a sign we have to get back to our work….reluctantly evryone gets up aand moves ahead… wishing it could have lasted for another hr or so.. but theres a coffee break ahead…..lets meet at coffeee break. we can order some thing out…whats sY!!!!!!

Ohhhh My God!!! Its a wax!!!!!!!

Daniel Radcliffe is only seventeen but has already proven he has that real star quality. With several films, television and stage productions under his belt he has become a young British acting force to be reckoned with. Starring as himself he joins Madame Tussauds as the youngest actor ever being immortalised by our sculptors.

Fans from all over the world have watched Daniel Radcliffe growing up on the big screen in films like the ‘Tailor of Panama’ and TV dramas such as Dickens classic ‘David Copperfield’ and ‘Extras’. They’ve also supported him in more challenging stage roles such as the recent stage play EQUUS. Daniel is still going from strength to strength as an actor and is a promising star well deserved of his spot in the lime light at Madame Tussauds!

With his 18th birthday around the corner Daniel has seen more fame than most actors achieve in a lifetime

Hanging Garden जुलै 2, 2007

The Hanging Garden

The Hanging Gardens, Mumbai, in Mumbai, India, also known as Ferozeshah Mehta Gardens, are terraced gardens perched at the top of Malabar Hill, on its western side, just opposite the Kamala Nehru Park. They provide lovely sunset views over the Arabian Sea and feature numerous hedges carved into the shapes of animals. The park was laid out in 1881 over Bombay’s main reservoir, some say to cover the water from the potentially contaminating activity of the nearby Towers of Silence.
